Especially with the irelia champion, you have to go mid. Partially it's just that when you have a lot of your team's lp in one player (he hit rank 1 earlier in the season and is still pretty close) they kind of have to carry to win. But also irelia sort of always fights and will win with even numbers, and maybe find a 1v3 outplay if fed, but generally the irelia is always going to fight so you have to show up there.
