It takes a bit of time/effort to go get water, so sometimes that little bit of friction when my glass is empty is enough to make me not drink water while playing. So it's helpful to always keep my glass full. If you make sure you keep your glass full (or bottle or whatever full) then you'll just drink naturally whenever you're thirsty.

No need to remind yourself to drink water, just remind yourself to get water (at least for me).
